WHY THE 8 HOUR CLIMBER/TOWER CRANE RIGGER RENEWAL COURSE?
This course is a renewal requirement for the holder of a NYC Climber/Tower Crane Rigger License. To renew this certification in NYC, all workers must successfully complete 8 hours of training as mandated by the 2014 Construction Code, Building Code Chapter 33. In this course, students will cover a shorthand version of the original 30 Hour Climber/Tower Crane Rigger course, including OSHA Subparts, Title 1 Rules of the City of New York Chapters 6 and 9, all applicable construction codes and a variety of Crane & Derrick Codes including: Crane Assembly and Disassembly, use of slings, signaling, Crane & Hoist inspections, rigging requirements, common safety problems, amongst other topics.
Upon Completing this course, the students will be able to
Describe the operational and safety components of gas welding and cutting on a construction site.
State how you can use safety controls to prevent accidents during welding and cutting work.
Explain best practices and guidelines concerning the use, storage and transportation of compressed gas cylinders.
Explain the roles of various fire prevention professionals on a construction site.
Describe fire watch requirements and the inspection and permitting process for hot work.
State proper procedures for fire watches and fire extinguisher use
List common health risks encountered by welders and fire protection personnel during hot work.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
100% attendance of this course is required to gain certification. Students must attend all training hours and are expected on time as per Quantum Safety’s rules.
Quantum Safety expects that its students must be able to demonstrate that they have achieved the learning outcomes. Every student must pass a final exam before certification, and achieve at least a 65% passing grade—final exams can be attempted as many times as necessary by a student to gain certification.
LATENESS AND ABSENCES POLICY
Furthermore, 30 minutes will be considered the minimum allowance for lateness. Any student who is absent for any training day or who shows up 30 minutes after the scheduled starting time will be asked to schedule a make-up training day for the contact hours of the day.
